Billericay take National League South double in September awards

The September awards have arrived in a rush, and Billericay Town collected the biggest pair of them. Jon Benton was named Enterprise National League South Player of the Month, with manager Dan Scopes taking the division's Manager of the Month award. In the National League North, the individual honours were split: Bartosz Cybulski of Spalding United took the Player of the Month prize, while Hereford manager Aaron Downes was named Manager of the Month.

The team awards fell to clubs across the Southern League. Bromsgrove Sporting won Premier Central Team of the Month, with manager Tim Flowers presented his trophy by league director Craig Stainton. Wimborne Town were named Premier Division South club of the month, the trophy handed to chairman Tony Grant and club secretary Paula Wheatley, and Didcot Town took the Division One Central equivalent, collected by manager Jamie Heapy and coach Paul Bedwell. Flixton were First Division North Club of the Month after winning all five of their September fixtures.

A number of players swept the board at their own clubs. Scott Bakkor won both Player and Goal of the Month at Stafford Rangers, his strike against Hereford in the Emirates FA Cup taking the latter. Jay Murray did the same at Taunton Town, a hat-trick away at Havant cited as his standout moment, as did Josh Moody at Fawley and Callum King at East Thurrock Community, where he took the Owners' Player and Goal of the Month. Harry Sheppeard won Emley's player award with 36 per cent of the vote and their Goal of the Month with 65 per cent.

Elsewhere the monthly votes went to Charlie Walker at Lewes, Nathan Ashmore at Dagenham & Redbridge, Callum Cockerill-Mollett at Leamington, Ross Duggan at Goole after six goals, Jez Davies at Enfield Town and Ackeem Stewart at Hungerford Town. Spencer Walker took Thornaby's men's award for a second month running; Faye Dale won the women's.

Not all the honours were about form. Bury achieved the She Belongs Standard from Manchester FA, recognising female-friendly facilities and equal opportunities for women and girls, with a plaque presented at the club last week. Weston-super-Mare marked Max Harris's 200th appearance with a silver salver, and at Chorley, Max Hunt's man-of-the-match award was chosen in memory of Colin Owen by Colin's family and friends.
